Everyone feels down at one time or another in
their lives, but it can effect people in different ways. Sometimes
it can last momentarily, other times it can last days, weeks or even years.
Sometimes it might be something that we live with, but ofc we don’t have to let
it take over or control us.
Here’s 10 sign you feeling blue :
1. You don’t want to get up in the mornings
or you’re sleeping quite a lot.
2. You can’t face being around happy people
or even your friends because you feel alone and like they wouldn’t understand.
3. You want to be alone because you feel like
you will bring people around you down.
4. You feel upset for no reason at all. But
more than that, you can’t seem to shake the feeling.
5. This feeling
of overwhelming sadness may be accompanied by anxiety.
6. You might feel like you don’t want to talk
to others about it or ask for help because you don’t feel like you are worthy
of help, or that you are worth anything.
7. You find it hard to control your emotions
and are feeling very sad or lethargic or just completely drained of energy all
the time – or a lot of the time.
8. You feel completely unmotivated to do the
things that you know you/you really should so you write the day off and say you
will do it tomorrow.
9. All of these feelings and emotions are a lot
for one person to deal with so this can affect sleep patterns and appetite too.
10. Another sign could be suicidal thoughts
or questioning your self-worth.
These feelings may have been triggered by
different life events. For example, the loss of somebody close, or feeling hopeless because of a situation
you find yourself in (there is no blame here, people go through various events
throughout their lives).
Feeling like
you’re not good enough? Try looking
at yourself in the mirror and saying
“I can do it”,
“I am
good enough”,
“I’m worth it” – perhaps a L’oreal thing but
it can work.
We need to find out what it is that is
affecting your confidence in order to overcome it. Only you can answer this but
there are people out there that can help
you find out, you don’t have to do it alone! If you’re not comfortable with this, perhaps try talking to a friend or a member of the family. You might feel
better afterwards just because you’ve said
what’s on your mind aloud. You could even write your thoughts down, and then rip them up as a way of saying “right,
I’m done with those feelings, you’re ripped up and in the bin now, I’m moving
forward”.
Sometimes we set ourselves impossible
challenges because we know we can’t achieve them and this reinforces our belief
that we can’t do anything. Breaking down these resolutions into bite sized
chunks can help us to achieve realistic
goals one step at a time. This can help to change our thinking and allows
us to prove to ourselves that we really
can do it!
What’s important is that you know that it is
not unusual for people to feel down or blue, and you are not alone.
You don’t have to suffer in silence. (But of course I still do...)
